Smoking ban

England was the last part of the United Kingdom to ban smoking, following a ban in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Could such a ban, entirely prohibiting smoking in public places, be positive or negative for our society? Some people suggest that introducing a smoking ban will improve the current situation of passive smokers who run the risk of being poisoned by cigarette fumes. It would also decrease the number of smokers or non – smokers afflicted by lung cancer. Moreover, that ban can encourage smokers to break up their habit and get rid of their addiction. Nevertheless, there are many people against introducing that ban. They claim that it would be an unreasonable curtailment of their liberty. According to them it is only their own decision if they want to smoke or not. They argue that the ban completely prohibiting smoking will be a great reason for discriminating smokers who are in the minority . They emphasize that the rule is too strict and suggest some other solutions. All these information I found in a video email from my best friend.
