Having normal mailing list is very random and will not bring more benefits than normal advert in a newspaper or TV channel. Every list of contacts consists of mixture of different people. Selecting groups of people basing on some features, that are suitable to the product being advertised, is called targeted mailing list. Targeted mailing list reduces the possibility of sending your adverts to too many non interested people. This means that that your chances of being reported as a spammer are reduced your work will be to go through all the filters. Targeted mailing list involves a lot more effort to collect a list as big as the random one, but this effort will benefit in the future. If you can spend some more money you can always buy a list from some dealer online. But in this case you have to careful because a lot of that dealers sell people contacts that have not been authorised. If you will be reported as a spammer your email address may be blocked due to abuse of privacy of recipients.
